RADIAL SHAFT SEALS

Oil seals are mechanical components used to seal the space between stationary and moving parts in machinery. Their main function is to retain lubricants (like oil or grease) inside while preventing contaminants (dust, dirt, water) from entering.

🔹 Applications:
• Automotive engines and gearboxes
• Industrial machinery
• Pumps and compressors
• Agricultural and construction equipment

🔹 Key Functions:
1. Prevent leakage of lubricants.
2. Protect bearings and shafts from dirt and dust.
3. Maintain proper lubrication for smooth operation.
4. Increase the lifespan of rotating equipment.

👉 In short, these are Oil Seals (also called Shaft Seals, Rotary Seals, or Lip Seals).

RADIAL OIL SEAL

This image shows a radial shaft seal (oil seal) in cross-section. It is used to seal lubrication inside rotating shafts and to prevent contaminants (dust, water, particles) from entering. The four numbered parts are: Parts and Definition: 1. Sealing Lip • Creates a tight seal on the shaft surface. • Usually spring-loaded to maintain constant pressure and prevent oil leakage. 2. Garter Spring • A circular spring located inside the sealing lip. • Ensures uniform radial force on the lip against the shaft for effective sealing. 3. Metal Case (Outer Shell) • Provides structural support to the seal. • Fits tightly into the housing bore and keeps the seal rigid. 4. Dust Lip / Auxiliary Lip • Positioned outside the primary sealing lip. • Prevents dust, dirt, and contaminants from
